The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the state and the journalism profession.
In a statement issued on Monday and jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman, Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire, and Secretary, Comrade Edeki Igafe, the union described the late Uduaghan as one of the most media-friendly governors Delta State had ever produced.
The chapel noted that throughout his time in office and beyond, Dr. Uduaghan maintained a cordial relationship with journalists, treating members of the union like family and always identifying with the activities and welfare of the chapel. “We received with heavy hearts the news of the transition of our former governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan. The final page turns; the echoes remain; some footprints outlive the journey,” the statement read.
The union further described the late former governor as a father figure whose contributions to the development of Delta State and his unwavering support for the media would remain unforgettable.
While commiserating with the Uduaghan family, the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel prayed that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
