The Ovie of Agbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Michael Omeru, Ogurimerime, Ukori I, JP, CON, has condemned the destruction of property by aggrieved youths in Okpara Inland Community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The monarch expressed his displeasure during a visit to the community to assess the extent of the damage caused by the unrest. Describing the incident as unfortunate and unacceptable, the royal father said the issues that triggered the violence could have been resolved through dialogue rather than the destruction of lives and property.
The Ovie, who was accompanied on the visit by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Nigeria Police Force, Isiokolo Divisional Headquarters, and chiefs of Agbon Kingdom, known as the Ekakuro, inspected the affected areas and received a briefing on the incident.
He commiserated with the President-General of Okpara Inland Community, Chief Barrister Eteh Esosuakpo, and the people of the community over the destruction, assuring them of the kingdom’s support during the difficult period.
The monarch called on security agencies to identify and arrest those responsible for the destruction, stressing that anyone found culpable should be made to face the full weight of the law.
He also urged residents of the community to embrace peaceful dialogue and lawful means of resolving disputes, emphasizing that violence and the destruction of property only undermine peace, unity, and development.
