Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has felicitated with the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Majesty Monday Obukowho Whiskey Udurhe I on his 5th coronation and 60th birthday anniversaries which is held today,18th January 2026.
In a congratulatory message which was signed by Governor Oborevwori’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said the twin celebration shows sixty years of birth and five years of purposeful, stable and people-oriented traditional leadership in Idjerhe Kingdom. According to Governor Oborevwori, the anniversary has provided an opportunity for the people to reflect on the Monarch’s contributions to the preservation of cultural values, peaceful coexistence and the overall progress of the kingdom.
Part of the message reads: “Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has congratulated the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Obukowho Monday Whiskey, JP, PhD, Udurhie I, as the revered monarch marks his 60th birthday and fifth coronation anniversary on Sunday, January 18, 2026.” Governor Oborevwori said since the Monarch ascended the throne, he has shown exemplary leadership which is built on wisdom, humility and inclusiveness that has helped to strengthen unity and promote enduring peace among Idjerhe people.
According to him, the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the kingdom today is a testament to the Monarch’s commitment to dialogue, consensus-building and respect for traditional institutions. Governor Oborevwori commended Idjerhe Monarch’s for his developmental and support initiatives, his cooperation with government at all levels, saying that, such partnership has continued to advance grassroots development and socio-economic growth in the area. Part of the message reads “The peaceful atmosphere enjoyed in the kingdom today is a testament to the monarch’s commitment to dialogue, consensus-building and respect for traditional institutions”.
According to Governor Oborevwori, Monarch’s reign has been marked by stability and progress which have earned him the respect and admiration of his subjects and well-meaning Deltans and therefore prayed for God’s continuous guidance, good health and longevity just as he wished him many more years of impactful service to this people while on the throne.
