The Indigenes of Abbi Community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, residing in Warri, under the aegis of Okwele Progressive Union ( OPU) and Abbi Development Association ( ADA) Warri Branch, have honoured Chief Felix Ndame Ujene over his Chieftaincy title, “Ozorjiniogwe of Okwele kingdom” which was conferred on him.
Chief Ujene who played host to the entire members of both groups: OPU and ADA in his prestigious family’s compound said, the essence of the ceremony is to confirm that he was actually conferred with a Chieftaincy title. In his brief remarks, Chief Ujene explained that he hosted the entire members of both associations at a top notch level in order to prove to them that he truly took the title as the Ozorjiniogwe of Abbi Okwele Kingdom.
While describing the event as a unique and an extraordinary one in the history of his family, Chief Ujene noted that the objective of the ceremony has been achieved since all the guests that came to grace the occasion were happy as they enjoyed every bit of the occasion.
In an interview with the Journalist at the event, the General Secretary, Okwele Progressive Union ( OPU) and Abbi Development Association, (ADA) Warri branch, Camrade Mosco Godday Numga expressed joy over the conferment of the Chieftaincy title on Chief Ujene over the title. According to him, the entire people of Abbi residing in Warri have come to felicitate with Chief Ujene at his residence adding, Chief Ujene really deserves the honor of Abbi people living in warri adding, they came to celebrate with him in this regard.
While describing the ceremony as a unique one, Comrade Numga said the entire guests at the occasion were equally joyous over the ceremony and therefore used the medium to call on all members of Abbi community residing in warri and its environs who are also due and prepared for the Chieftaincy title should ensure they are conferred with any title of their choice in Abbi Community. According to him, it is not only when their parents organize a party such as this adding, they actually want something that would bring joy to all of them.
Comrade Numga described Chief Ujene as an ambassador and a true representative of the community just as he advised him to project the good image of Abbi Community in all ramifications. He admonished the celebrant to partake in every good work just as he urged him to be Involved in the peaceful settlement of any crisis of the community as that is the only way joy will be among people in the community.
Comrade Numga expressed gratitude to all members of both associations: ADA, OPU and others that came to celebrate with Chief Ujene and his family adding that, such kind of celebration is good for the association as it fosters unity and love among them. According to him, it should not be a case of burial of untimely death of family members that would bring them together.
Comrade Numga used the medium to call on any one willing, qualified and prepared to represent the community in any way should quickly go to Abbi Community to do needful to prove that he is true son of the community. On his part, the President of Abbi Okwele Progressive Union, ( OPU),Warri Branch, Chief Felix Okolo expressed joy being able grace the occasion and honour the celebrant. According to him, members of both associations: OPU and ADA usually pray for the upliftment, peace, and progress of Abbi Community just as they pray to have notable and responsible personalities that would attain the positions of Chiefs in the community.
He said, to be a Chief is also to belong to the decision making body and member of the Governing Council of the community to help in the rulership of the community. Chief Okolo prayed God to bless and protect Chief Ujene and his entire family and endear him with wisdom just as he prayed for his guidance to participate in the good leadership of Abbi Community.
Chief Okolo also prayed to God to better the lives of the entire members of the Okwele Progressive Union, (OPU) and Abbi Development Association ( ADA), Warri branch to move the body to an enviable height. He advised Chiefs Ujene to be a good listener so as to have good answers to questions on their Council of Chiefs and not jump into conclusion on any matter especially while discussing in the palace with other Chiefs.
On his part, the President General of Abbi Development Association. ( ADA) Warri Branch, Mr. Uche. Abamba, commended the good efforts of Chief Ujene for attaining the position of a Chief in Abbi Community, saying, the celebrant has done marvelously to be the “Ozorjiniogwe of Okwele kingdom” . He therefore urged Chief Ujene not to disappoint the people of Abbi Community in his leadership just as urged the celebrant to learn to carry his people along in all he does.
Notable personalities that graced the occasion include: Camrade Kester Ogwa, Mr. Peter Ikogwe, Camrade Joseph Obilobi, Chief Security Officers, Mr. Ogbuefi Azubike Stephen, Mr. Sunday Egwanumkwiu among others.
