The Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers, recovered two AK 47 riffles and 27 rounds of 7.62 of ammunition. In a press statement by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said, on the 26th January, 2023,the Divisional Police Officer, Ovwian Aladja received information that two members of dreaded armed robbers/kidnapping gang were sighted at a club in Udu LGA. Based on this information, the DPO Aliyu Shaba swiftly mobilized and led police operatives to the club saying in the process, one of the suspects was arrested.
The statement added, the suspect has confessed to be a member of an armed robbery/kidnapping gang and then led the police to their hide out in Udu where the Police operatives were engaged in a serious gun duel by his gang members and in the process, one of the suspects was neutralized by the operatives.
The statement said, the suspect arrested at the club was fatally wounded in the gun duel and died his way to the hospital. The statement said, one(1) AK 47 rifle and twenty-seven rounds of 7.62 ammunition were recovered. Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest other members of the gang .

The statement reads in parts:” … During the gun duel, one of the suspects was neutralized by the operatives. The suspect arrested at the club was fatally wounded in the cross fire while other members of the gang escaped. One AK47 rifle and twenty-seven (27) rounds of 7.62 ammunition were recovered. The injured suspect gave up the ghost before he could get to the hospital. Manhunt for the other fleeing members of the gang is ongoing”.
In a related development, operatives of riders squad deployed to Oghara on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, on the 29th January raided a suspected cultist’s hideout at the back of Oghara Grammar School and recovered AK 47 rifle, one-double -barrel- gun and cartridges.
The statement reads in parts:” Similarly, operatives of raider’s squad deployed to Oghara on directives of the CP, on 29/01/2023 raided a suspected cultist hideout at the back of Oghara Grammer School and recovered one AK47 rifle, one double barrel gun and cartridges”.
Again, sequel to the incessant complaints received by the Command on the activities of hoodlums who break into people’s houses and steal their generators, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA,psc+ ordered the DPO especially within the Asaba metropolis to fish out the perpetrators or risked being removed as a DPO. Based on this, the DPO, GRA gathered intelligence that led to the arrest of one Titus Sunday ‘m’ aged 49 years in PortHarcout. The statement added that during investigation, the suspect confessed to be part of the syndicate that specialize in the stealing of generators within Asaba metropolis saying in the process, he led operatives to Awka where 220KVA generator stolen along Marian Babangida way Asaba was recovered.
The suspect, on 29th January 2023, also led operatives to their hideout in Asaba and seven other suspected stolen sound-proof generators were recovered. Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the other members of the gang.
