Ahead of 2023 general elections, the presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu said Nigeria would experience speedy growth and development in all areas if elected the President Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ovier Omo-Agege becomes Delta State Governor. Bola Tinubu stated this on Saturday at Warri City Stadium in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State at a campaign rally organized by the party. He said, the opposition party in government lacks the vision and capability to govern the country saying, when APC takes the reign of power, there would be meaningful growth and development in the state in particular and the country at large.
He said, in Delta State, the electorates have been deceived severally by opposition party with electioneering promises that are never fulfilled and assured the people that if they vote for Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, they would experience a new dawn in Delta in all ramifications. He said:”they don’t know the way, don’t have the vision, they lack prosperity, they have no progress, and they don’t have the knowledge to revamp the country’s economy”. He said, here in Delta State, year after year, the electorates have been deceived by the opposition party adding, nothing to show for promises made and therefore charged the people to vote for Senator Omo Agege to revamp the state’s economy. He said, he was ready to work with Senator Ovie Omo Agege to bring back development to Delta State especially, Warri as the 23 years of opposition party, no physical development to show for it.
He said:”Year after year, they keep making promises, no visible projects in Delta State, 23 years of the opposition party.. Warri is going down” .He challenged the people to go to Lagos to see how it has developed saying, he is ready to have a replica of Lagos in Delta State when Omo-Agege becomes the Governor, come 2023. He called on the Deltans to support the vision of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to bring the state back to its lost glory.
Earlier in his address, the Governorship candidate for 2023 gubernatorial election on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo-Agege said, Deltans despite the huge amount of money that comes to the state through federal allocation together with Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) Deltans are still wallowing in poverty. He said if he becomes the Governor of the state, the privatized Delta Steel Company (DSC), Ovwian Aladja, would be revisited and brought back to its full operations to give employment to the teeming youths . He added that he would make the moribund Warri and Koko sea ports, the EPZ project at Ogidigben operational to give employment to the people.
He said:” Our people are still suffering despite the huge amount of money the state government gets from federal allocation together with the Internally Generated Revenue, which is not supposed to be “. Senator Agege said he has the experience to turn things around for good, having served in different capacities in the government adding, the eight years he served as a Senator, he has been able to improve on the lives of the people not only the constituency he represents, but other areas. He said:” I have served as a Commissioner in the government, Secretary to the State Government,(SSG), Senator and now Deputy Senate President. In my eight years of being a Senator, I have improved on the lives of people not only of constituency but beyond” He therefore called on Deltans to support him and the Bola Tinubu come 2023 to change the narratives both at the state and the federal levels.
On his part, the Former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomole said, all the billions of naira the Governor of opposition party receives from the Federal Government in Delta State, the state is still in shambles adding that, the government is said to be using the money to construct a fly over which means nothing compared to the amount of money received from the federal government. He therefore called on the people to vote for Senator Agege to enable them get the dividends of democracy. Other speakers include the Senate President, Ahmed Ibrahim Lawan. They all said if APC takes the reign of government, Deltans in particular and Nigerians in general would heave a sigh of relief and therefore called on all to support APC party to give the people the dividends of democracy.
