Following the just concluded direct primaries of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), held across Delta State, a faithful member of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), in Ughelli North LGA, Delta State Chief Ogodo Patrick Omma, has disclosed that Senator Ovie Omo-Agege who vies for the elective seat of Delta Central Senatorial District under the platform of NDC is from Orogun and Chief (Dr.), Christopher Ominimini whom he allegedly fights to clinch the ticket of Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency is also from Orogun- the same constituency with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.
Ogodo hinted that, the just concluded direct primaries of the NDC party held in Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, the major contending aspirant is Hon. (Arch), Julius Efeni Akpovoka who is optimistic of clinching the ticket according to a preliminary result from the three local government areas that make up the Ughelli/Udu Federal constituency. In the same vein, Chief Ogodo also viewed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege’s attack on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as “oppressive” for saying that both Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Dafinone are both from Okpe Constituency.
According to him, what Senator Agege is accusing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for, is what he is doing now by creating room for Dr. Ominimini as House of representative for Ughelli/Udu Federal constituency who is from the same Ughelli Constituency 1, with Senator Ovie Omo-Agege – a situation which would not be possible in this regard. Chief Ogodo accused Senate President, Senator God’swill Akpabio for allegedly planting mole in the party to destabilize NDC as Dr. Ominimini remains Senator Akpobio’s aid and still allegedly receives salary till date.
Going memory lane, NDC faithful also said when late Olorogun Felix Ibru was contesting for governorship position of Delta State then, and Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege wanted to run for Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, it was former Governor James Ibori who advised him (Ovie Agege) that, it not was ideal that, that should be done since both are from same constituency. According to him, this scenario necessitated late Felix Ibru to go for governorship position while Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency seat went to other constituency.
Chief Ogodo Patrick Omma used this medium to call on the party National Working Committee (NWC), including all stakeholders, leaders of the party to ensure that the needful is done to avoid rancor in the party to enable it grow and clinch victory come 2027 general elections. All attempts to reach Senators Akpobio and Omo- Agege and of course, Dr. Ominimini for their comments proved abortive at the time of this report.
