Following the directive allegedly given to political appointees in Delta State by Governor Oborevwori asking them to resign if they are interested in contesting the forthcoming local government elections, it was alleged that eight Commissioners have resigned their appointment for this purpose. It was learnt that out of the eight, while three have actually resigned, five are still contemplating to do so.
The Commissioners who allegedly resigned include: Hon. Joan Onyemachi Commissioner,(Technical Education) , Mr Jaro Egbo (Special Adviser on Transport and Co-ordinator of Palliative, Mr. Vincent Oyibode Commissioner( Oil and Gas), though, he has since denied media report to this effect. It was reported however that the other five Commissioners are yet to make up their minds as they are still contemplating their political position or they may be sacked by the Governor.
However, when the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Oborevwori, Sir Festus Ahon was contacted, he said he was not aware of any directive given to Commissioners by Governor Oborevwori to resign in this direction.
