Hon. Emakpor Odogu, the Executive Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development has highlighted the significant impact of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s More-Agenda on community development in Delta State. He made this remark during his appearance on the Delta Broadcasting Service Morning Ride programme.
Hon. Odogu praised the Governor’s efforts, particularly in infrastructural development, noting that, Oborevwori’s administration has brought trans-formative changes across the State’s three senatorial districts.He mentioned the recent creation of a new ministry as regards riverine infrastructural development led by Commissioner, Hon.Ebikeme Clarke,in response to local demands.
He pointed out that Warri has become a hub of construction activity with notable projects at PTI Junction, DSC Roundabout, and Enerhen Junction, carried out by Julius Berger, saying that travelers passing through the State would be surprised at the level of development.
According to Hon. Odogu, apart from road infrastructure, the Government has approved substantial funding for medical equipment at Central Hospital, Warri and Teaching Hospital,Oghara and he is set to renovate 150 health centers across the state. He also noted a significant financial commitment to primary education with Exco’s approval of N3.55 billion counterpart funding to the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) for improving primary schools.
Hon. Odogu emphasized that the More Agenda has positively affected all 25 local government areas with a swipe approval of road projects in 23 local government areas in a single Exco’s meeting. He praised the harmonious relationship between state and local governments which has fostered rapid community’s development.
According to Hon. Odogu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration has tried in promoting peace and resolving long-standing conflicts in the state, citing Ogbe-Ijaw/Aladja and the recent Okuama/Okoloba crises as cases in point. He also commended the Governor for his inclusiveness in his administration as he ensures that youths and women are prioritized in his appointments.
