It was atmosphere of glamour as Samaila Group Of Schools in Ethiope East Local Government Area Delta State marked its 8th Inter-house sports competition. In his speech, the Proprietor who is the Director of studies of the school,Chief Richard Abbey said that the aim and objectives of inter-house sports competition is to develop learners physically apart from the cognitive area .
According to him, there are challenges the institution has among which is lack of co-operation from the parents as many of them have lukeworm attitude towards their children’s educational pursuit which includes inability for to buy educational materials such as books, sandals, school uniforms, sports wears and pay their wards/children’s fees. He therefore advised parents to always wake up to the above needs of their children to achieve better results always.
Chief Richard Abbey said although, the event was a successful one, he promised better performance in the next year’s inter-house sports competition and urged parents to continue to support the school in whatever way they can. He also lamented the attitude of the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education for their failure to assist to Private schools when the need arises. He however thanked, the Chief Inspector of Education, CIE, Ethiope East Local Government Area ably represented by Mr Emese Wilfred and accompanied by Mrs Godwin Christabel and Pastor Godpower Eyitemi for a quick response to invitation.

On his part, Mr Emese Wilfred said, that inter-house sport competition is a good thing and is needed yearly to rehabilitate and build pupils /students for better performance in their educational careers. The inter-house sports competition showcased match past of the various houses, picking the ball by kg 1 ,kg 2,and kg 3 pupils.100 metres race by junior boys and girls, school relay and traditional dressing parade of the various houses.
The occasion which was well attended by stakeholders in education industry saw Purple House come 1st position, Yellow House, 2nd position while Green House clinched 3rd position. The high point of the ceremony was the presentation of trophies by Mr Emese Wilfred to the overall winner amidst jubilation.
In an interview, the Patron of Purple House, the overall winner of the competition, Mr Adogbeji said that it never occurred to him that his house would do him so proud this way. He therefore thanked the House Master for a job well done.
