The Delta State Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), on Saturday 30 May, 2026, inaugurated the Erukaye Security Committee Executives headed by Mr. Alex Okwagbe. The Delta State PCRC Chairman, Comrade Oliver Eyefia was represented at the event by the Chairman, PCRC, Ekpan Division, Mr. Paul Okperuewe who conducted the inauguration and administered the oath of office to the executives.
Speaking after the inauguration, Mr. Okperuewe said that the Police Community Relations Committee serves as the primary bridge between the Nigeria Police Force and the public, saying, “It is a volunteer-based organisation that promotes community policing, fosters mutual trust, and improves local security by facilitating information sharing and collaboration with communities and other stakeholders in the security ecosystem.”
Mr. Okperuewe strongly charged the Chairman of Erukaye Security Committee, Mr. Alex Okwagbe to work in synergy with the members of the executive, including landlords and residents of Erukaye street to ensure top-notch security of lives and property. Continuing, Mr. Okperuewe assured Mr. Okwagbe of continuous support from the Delta PCRC to ensure that the purpose of inaugurating the Erukaye Security Committee Executives is achieved.
In his speech, Mr. Alex Okwagbe thanked God for the successful inauguration of the Erukaye Security Committee Executives. He pledged full commitment to safety of lives and property in Erukaye street, stating that he would carry out his functions transparently in collaboration with the members of the executive, including landlords and other residents of Erukaye Street.
He stressed the importance of security in fostering socio-economic wellbeing of society, calling on all to give him maximum support to be able to achieve huge success in his tenure. He said, “Collective effort is needed to put the right policy and action in place to make the Erukaye street safe for all.”
Mr. Okwagbe promised to hold regular security meetings to ensure continuous sensitization of the residents on how to improve security in and around Erukaye Street. The highpoint of the event was presentation of a certificate by the Delta State PCRC to the Erukaye Security Committee Executives.
The Erukaye Security Committee Executives comprise the following: Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, PRO, and Welfare Officer. The event was attended by a large number of the residents (landlords and tenants) of Erukaye Street, Ekpan, Uvwie LGA, Delta State.
