The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Delta State Governor, Mr. Festus Ahon has called on the members of the Governor’s press crew and staff in the press unit, Government House, Asaba, to be committed to their duties.
Mr. Ahon gave the charge on Tuesday at his maiden meeting with the Governor’s press crew and members of staff in the press unit, held at the new Press Centre, Government House, Asaba, the state capital. According to him, they should work as a team in promoting the activities of the state government. He therefore solicited the cooperation of everybody in the unit towards giving adequate publicity to the policies and programmes of the state government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in the state.
He said:”Everybody should collectively work together in our collective drive aimed at promoting the activities of the state government. As image makers, we should promote the activities of the state government and be passionately committed to our job”.
Mr. Ahon urged them to live above board in the discharge of their duties just as he charged them always dress smart.
He said:”As journalists, we should always dress smartly. Your dressing matters a lot. You will be addressed the way you dress. You don’t need expensive clothes before you dress clean”.
While assuring the press crew that the two new buses approved for them (Governor’s press crew ) would be available this week, Mr. Ahon promised to look into some of the issues they raised adding . his meeting them would be a on monthly basis.
Earlier, Mr. Kingsley Kwubosu, the Public Relations Officer in the Press Unit, Directorate of Government House and Protocol, congratulated the new CPS on his appointment just as he assured him(Mr. Ahon) of the unalloyed support and cooperation of members of the Governor’s press crew and staff in the press unit.
The meeting provided an avenue for the people to draw the attention of the CPS to some of the challenges plaguing the staff in the press unit, which, according to them, included lack of sound operational vehicles, and other basic things needed to enhance their efficiency while carrying out their assignments.
