Pastor David O. Amanoritsewo delivering sermon during the programme on Sunday
By Samuel Ogude
The Acceptable Christian Church (ACC), located at 15 Skinn Road, Warri, Delta State, has described the birth of Jesus Christ as the greatest event in the history of mankind. The declaration was made by the Pastor of the church, Pastor David O. Amanoritsewo, during a special service held on Sunday to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Speaking during the service, Pastor Amanoritsewo said the birth of Jesus Christ marked a turning point in human history, describing Him as “the seed of the woman” and the only begotten Son of God sent to redeem humanity.

According to him, Jesus Christ was ordained by Jehovah God, the Creator of heaven and earth, to destroy Satan, deliver mankind from the bondage of sin and death, and usher the faithful into God’s everlasting Kingdom. He said the Kingdom of God would be characterised by peace, perfection and eternal life, free from pain, sorrow and death. The cleric explained that the period before Christ’s birth is referred to as BC (Before Christ), while the period after His birth is known as AD (Anno Domini), a Latin phrase meaning “In the Year of Our Lord.“
Pastor Amanoritsewo stated that the birth of Jesus Christ represents the fourth of the church’s ten fundamental biblical teachings, which include creation, justice, ransom sacrifice, resurrection, mystery revealed, Christ’s second coming, glorification of the Church and the restoration of all things. He explained that Jesus Christ came to earth as a human being with flesh, blood and bones, having been transferred from the spirit realm into the womb of the Virgin Mary to accomplish God’s plan of redemption for mankind.

Quoting from several Bible passages, including Genesis 3:15, Matthew 3:17, Galatians 4:22–31 and Luke 2:1–4, the pastor traced the biblical account of Christ’s birth and affirmed that the Saviour of the world came in fulfilment of God’s promise. He also declared that Jesus Christ had promised to return and had already come the second time, saying the present age represents the last days and that God’s Kingdom has been established on earth, although many people fail to recognise it because of their pursuit of material wealth, power and worldly pleasures.
Pastor Amanoritsewo who officiated alongside Brothers Edwin Okpako Eruanovwe, Charles Kwesi Ghartey and Omatsola Igho Eyengho, urged believers to remain steadfast in their faith, stressing that those who believe in Jesus Christ would inherit everlasting life when God’s Kingdom is fully established.

Citing John 3:16–17, Matthew 6:9–10, Matthew 5:5, Isaiah 65:17–25 and Revelation 21:1–5, he called on those who have not surrendered their lives to God to do so in order to receive eternal life. He further maintained that Jesus Christ is the only religious founder who lived, died, rose from the dead and lives forever, referencing Revelation 1:18.
Earlier, in a sermon titled “Do Not Follow the Multitude to Celebrate Christmas,” Brother Omatsola Igho Eyengho argued that many people mistakenly celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ in December.

According to him, biblical and historical records indicate that Jesus Christ was born in October, although no specific date was provided in the Scriptures. He maintained that Jesus could not have been born on December 25 due to prevailing climatic conditions just as he said this fact is backed by historical evidence.
He urged Christians to worship God in spirit and in truth and to base their beliefs on the teachings of the Bible. The celebration featured cultural dance performances, praise and worship sessions, and song ministrations, all offered in thanksgiving to God
