The Lighted Women Foundation, a non-governmental organization based in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, has again demonstrated its commitment to promoting education by donating educational materials to pupils of Esedo Primary School, Effurun.
The foundation distributed exercise books, water bottles, pencils, biros, erasers, sharpeners and other learning materials to pupils in Primary One to Primary Six as part of its educational support programme.
Speaking during the presentation, the Chairperson of the foundation, Mrs. Ejiroghene Akporehe -John (Esq.), said the gesture was aimed at supporting the pupils in their academic pursuits and encouraging quality education. She noted that education should not be left solely in the hands of government, stressing that individuals, corporate bodies and non-governmental organizations all have important roles to play in building a better society.

“As Nigerian citizens, we all have roles to play. Everyone has a duty to contribute towards making our nation a better place. The aim of providing these educational materials is to support the less privileged because education is the key to a brighter future,” she said.
Mrs. Akporehe -John advised the pupils to be well-behaved, remain focused on their studies and make good use of the materials provided. “School is not a scam. Education makes you responsible and useful not only to your family but also to your community and the nation at large,” she added.
The foundation’s chairperson, who has previously organized campaigns against drug abuse and other social vices in schools across Delta State, as well as supported pupils and students with educational materials and financial assistance, urged parents to complement the efforts of teachers in ensuring the academic success of their children.

She also called on teachers to remain committed to nurturing the pupils, describing them as future leaders who would contribute to the development of Nigeria. Mrs. Akporehe -John appealed to the Delta State Government, led by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to give greater priority to education through policies and programmes that would improve the sector.
“We call on government at all levels to place more emphasis on education so that our children can receive quality education and build the better country we all desire,” she said.

Responding on behalf of the school, the Headmistress of Esedo Primary School, Etaghene Lucky Ejaita, expressed appreciation to the foundation for selecting the school as one of the beneficiaries of its intervention programme. She said she had long admired the foundation’s support for schools across the state and was delighted that Esedo Primary School is one of the beneficiaries from the initiative.
Ejaita commended the foundation for its sustained investment in education and encouraged it to continue touching the lives of children across Delta State.She also prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the foundation and all those who have contributed to its humanitarian activities.
The high point of the event was the presentation and distribution of the educational materials to the pupils, who received the items with excitement and smiles.
