Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, describing his passing as a great loss to Delta State and the nation.
In a statement signed by his Media Consultant, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo, and made available to journalists, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation said he received the news of Uduaghan’s death with shock and sadness, noting that he never expected such an unfortunate development at this time. Tompolo described the late former governor as a selfless leader whose contributions to peace, security and the development of the Niger Delta would remain unforgettable.
According to him, Dr. Uduaghan played a supportive role during the militancy era by contributing to efforts that led to the implementation of the Presidential Amnesty Programme and the award of pipeline surveillance contracts under the administrations of late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and former President Goodluck Jonathan. He noted that those interventions have significantly strengthened the protection of the nation’s oil and gas infrastructure, leading to improved crude oil production and increased national revenue.
Part of the statement read:“The attention of High Chief Dr. Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, has been drawn to the death of the former Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, announced by his family on October 19. “I received the news of the passing of the former two-term governor with profound sadness. This is a painful loss that I never expected at this time.”
Tompolo prayed God to grant the Uduaghan family, the people of Delta State and all those affected by the loss the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
