Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Friday attributed the achievements recorded by his administration in the last three years to the grace, mercy and wisdom of God. The governor stated that the developmental strides witnessed across the state were made possible through prudent management of resources, stressing that his administration had not borrowed funds to execute projects.
Governor Oborevwori spoke at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
He said the event provided an opportunity for the government and people of the state to appreciate God for His faithfulness, guidance and support over the years. According to him, the administration had, within the past three years, implemented people-oriented programmes and projects aimed at improving the living standards of citizens, while also executing critical infrastructure projects across the state.

His words: “Today, we are celebrating three years of this administration. Indeed, this is the Lord’s doing and it is marvellous in our sight. I remain eternally grateful to God for finding me worthy to serve the people of Delta State in this capacity.” Governor Oborevwori noted that despite the challenges encountered in his political journey, divine wisdom, sincerity of purpose and prudent financial management had enabled his administration to overcome them successfully.
The governor also thanked God for the prevailing peace and security in the state, describing peace as the foundation for development and investment. He noted that Delta State, as one of Nigeria’s leading oil-producing states, had continued to attract investors because of its stable and peaceful environment.

He disclosed that all contracts awarded by his administration were backed by available funds, adding that the state had consistently met its obligations to contractors without borrowing. “We are here to thank God for the wisdom to execute developmental projects all over the state without borrowing a kobo from anybody or any bank. Every contract we award is backed by available funds, and we have continued to discharge our obligations to contractors promptly,” Governor Oborevwore added.
Governor Oborevwori commended security agencies for their commitment to maintaining law and order across the state. He equally expressed appreciation to former governors of the state, Chief James Ibori, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for laying solid foundations upon which his administration continues to build.
The governor further acknowledged the support of the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, members of the Delta State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community leaders, civil servants, political appointees and other stakeholders for their contributions to the growth and development of the state. He called for greater unity among Deltans, Governor Oborevwori urged citizens to continue supporting the government as it enters the final phase of its first tenure.

His words: “Delta State is our home. We do not have any other state. What is important is how we come together to build this state. With unity, Delta will continue to move forward and become the envy of other states.”
Earlier in his sermon titled, “Ever Increasing Progress,” renowned cleric, Apostle Joshua Selman, emphasised that lasting progress begins with acknowledging God and remaining connected to Him. The cleric described the state’s tradition of annual thanksgiving and praise gathering as a step in the right direction, noting that appreciating God and praying for continuous growth, prosperity and development were essential for sustainable progress.
According to him, the seven biblical keys to sustaining progress include abiding in Christ, avoiding distractions, pursuing greater knowledge and illumination, courage, humility, building strategic relationships and maintaining a lifestyle of thanksgiving. Apostle Selman also commended Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to development and project delivery across the state, urging leaders and citizens to remain focused on their vision despite challenges and criticisms.
The event featured scripture reading by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, while gospel ministers including Dunsin Oyekan, Moses Bliss, Asu Ekiye, Solomon Urete, M & Revelation, Jerry Ekpekuro and Solo Kings led worship and praise sessions. A major highlight of the ceremony was the cutting of the third anniversary cake to commemorate the administration’s three years in office.
Dignitaries at the event included former governors of Delta State, Chief James Ibori and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa; Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor; Senators Joel-Onowakpo Thomas and Ede Dafinone; members of the House of Representatives, including Francis Waive, Jonathan Ukodhiko and Nnamdi Ezechi, among other prominent guests.
