
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori delivering his address at the occasion on Sunday

The Itsekiri Nation on Sunday formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections. The endorsement took place at the palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, and was attended by prominent sons and daughters of Itsekiri Kingdom, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and political stakeholders from within and outside Delta State.
Speaking during the event, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori described the endorsement of both himself and President Tinubu as “organic” and appreciated the Itsekiri Nation for the show of confidence in their leadership.

The governor commended the Itsekiri people for their contributions to the political, economic, academic, and religious development of Delta State and Nigeria at large. He paid tribute to notable Itsekiri leaders, including late Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, Nigeria’s first Minister of Finance; late Chief Alfred Rewane, whom he described as a renowned democrat and business mogul; and former Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan.
According to him, the contributions of these eminent personalities helped shape the growth and development of both Delta State and the country. His words:”The political, economic, academic and religious landscape of this nation has been greatly shaped by eminent sons and daughters of Itsekiri Nation.”
Governor Oborevwori also commended the Olu of Warri for his leadership and commitment to peace, unity, and development in Delta State and Itsekiri Kingdom. “I celebrate your tenacity of purpose and unalloyed loyalty to the unity and progress of our beloved Delta State. Itsekiri Nation stands out as a symbol of strength and resilience within the Nigerian federation,” the governor stated

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to equitable development across the three senatorial districts of the state, Oborevwori assured the Itsekiri people that they would continue to benefit from ongoing infrastructural projects and government policies. He disclosed that the 21-kilometre Trans-Warri/Ode-Itsekiri Road project, including 15 bridges and access roads, which had remained in the pipeline since 2006, had been completed. He added that more infrastructural projects in Itsekiri communities were nearing completion and would soon be commissioned.
The governor assured Deltans that his administration remained committed to fulfilling its promises of transforming the state through meaningful development projects.

Earlier, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, expressed appreciation to Governor Oborevwori for his developmental strides, particularly infrastructural projects in Itsekiri Nation. The monarch pledged continued support for both the Delta State Government and the administration of President Tinubu.
Other speakers at the event included Delta State APC Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka; member representing Warri South Constituency I in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Austin Uroye; and member representing Warri North/Warri South/Warri South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi. The highlight of the ceremony was the formal adoption of President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for second terms in 2027 amid cheers from supporters and party faithful.
