The Delta State chapter of the National All Progressives Congress (APC) Christian Leaders Forum of Nigeria (NACLFON) has declared its readiness to work towards securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, in the 2027 general elections. The group made the declaration during a courtesy visit to APC chieftain, Olorogun John Oguma, at his residence over the weekend.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the State Chairman of NACLFON, Archbishop (Dr.) Sunday Dieruenaba, said the forum had resolved to support the second-term bids of both leaders in recognition of what he described as their impactful leadership at the federal and state levels. According to Dieruenaba, the visit was aimed at seeking the support and guidance of Olorogun Oguma, whom he described as a respected political leader with a long-standing commitment to good governance and democratic development.
“We came because of your consistent support for good governance in Delta State and Nigeria. You have remained committed to the progress of the country since the return of democracy in 1999. We believe you are the right person to partner with as we embark on this mission,” he said.
The cleric stated that the forum believes in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu and the MORE Agenda of Governor Oborevwori, noting that both administrations have recorded achievements in infrastructure development, economic reforms, and governance. “We believe in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and the MORE Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. They are doing well, and we are confident they will accomplish even more if given another mandate in 2027,” Dieruenaba added.
He disclosed that the forum, made up of clergy from various Christian denominations and Tribes from the three Senatorial District’s of the State plans to mobilise Christians across Delta State in support of the APC while also organising prayer altars in all 25 local government areas to seek divine intervention for peaceful elections before, during and after the polls.
He further revealed that the group intends to organise rallies across the three senatorial districts of the state, culminating in a mega rally in support of President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and other APC candidates. While acknowledging the economic hardship experienced by many Nigerians following the removal of fuel subsidy, Dieruoba argued that the policy was necessary for the country’s long-term development, adding that signs of economic recovery were beginning to emerge.
He emphasised that the forum is not a political pressure group but an organisation committed to promoting good governance, stressing that its support extends to all APC candidates across the country. “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice. We believe President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori have demonstrated purposeful leadership and deserve continuity,” he said.
Responding, Olorogun John Oguma commended the forum for recognising what he described as the achievements of both the President and the Delta State Governor. He urged members of the group to remain committed to the campaign, insisting that both leaders deserved overwhelming electoral support in 2027. “What Deltans owe President Bola Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is massive support at the polls so they can continue delivering democratic dividends to the people,” Oguma said.
The APC leader described the participation of Christian leaders in the political process as a positive development, noting that politics plays a vital role in nation-building. “You cannot separate politics from society. As Christians, we have a responsibility to participate in governance by supporting credible leadership,” he stated.
Oguma said Governor Oborevwori’s projects were visible across Delta State, particularly in road infrastructure, healthcare and education, while also commending President Tinubu’s economic reforms, including tax reforms and the removal of fuel subsidy, which he said were aimed at ensuring a more equitable distribution of national resources. He also attributed the cordial relationship between the President and the Delta State Governor to improved collaboration between the federal and state governments, resulting in prompt salary payments, rehabilitation of federal roads and other developmental initiatives.
Commenting on Governor Oborevwori’s recent description of President Tinubu as “an in-law” to Deltans, Oguma defended the remark, saying it reflected an existing family relationship and should not be misunderstood. He assured the forum of his financial, moral and logistical support to enable it achieve its objective of securing victory for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
The visit ended with special prayers offered by members of the forum for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Olorogun John Oguma and the peace, unity and continued progress of Delta State and Nigeria.
