The Delta State Police Command has warned the generality of the public against the use of fireworks such as knockouts, bangers in this yuletide saying, the law banning their use is very much in force.
In a press statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe said the Commissioner of Police Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, psc+ has advised parents/guardians to guide their children and wards to desist from using them. The statement said, the Commissioner also warned retailers of such goods to equally stop the sales of these products as anyone arrested would be prosecuted.
Part of the statement reads:” The ban on the use of fireworks is still in force and the command will enforce all extant laws prohibiting the use in the yultide .Parents/ Guardians are advised to guide their children and wards to desist from using them.”
Against this backdrop, the Commissioner of Police has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Commanders to ensure strict compliance with the ban on fireworks in their respective areas of responsibility.
