Labofa Ukuta- Ogoba
It is longer news that following the intervention of the Delta State Governor, Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Nigerian Army has finally left Okuama -Ewu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State. Due to the abandonment of the area over some time, there lie some property such as zinc, iron, rods and others. It was gathered that some youths who discovered that the army has finally left the community on Wednesday, came to hustle for scraps to sell.
From reliable source, it was some indigenes of Okuama who sneaked there when they heard the army has vacated the area saw them (boys) removing zinc and rods and the aggrieved locals pounced on the scavengers and in the process, one was allegedly killed while three others were injured.
Although, the identity of the local who was allegedly killed is yet unknown, there is reportedly tension in the area as neighbouring communities alleged that their indigenes were macheted, injured and hospitalised and there would be probable reprisal attack in the area. It is therefore a clarion call on the relevant security agencies and Delta State government to wade in order to avert probable another bloodshed in the area.
