It is on record that on the 12th February, 2024 the newly posted Delta State Commissioner of Police Delta State Command, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi , paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Executive Governor, His Excellency Rt (Hon) Sheriff Oborevwori at the State Government House, Asaba. His mission? He went there to intimate him(Governor) that he was ready to work and reduce crime and criminality in the state in order to have safer Delta.
This, according to DSP. Edafe Bright, ANIPR, FCIA, FIPMD Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command. The Commissioner of Police was not alone but accompanied by members of the Command Management Team and they were warmly received by the State Governor and members of the State Executive Council.
The CP also expressed his gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, members of the State executive council, and the entire people of Delta State for their cooperation and partnership so far in the fight against crime and criminality and he assured the Executive Governor, the Executive Council and the entire Deltans that crime would be reduced to the barest minimum during his administration, just as he emphasized that officers and men of the Command would respect the rights of all citizens in the discharge of all assigned duties in the state.
CP Abaniwonda Olufemi did not fail, during his address, to appreciate the IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, who has tasked him with the mandate of ensuring that Delta residents, and non-residents sleep with their two eyes closed.
The Governor, in his remark, welcomed the Commissioner of Police,CP Abaniwonda Olufemi and his management team and urged the CP to keep to his promise of ensuring that all Deltans sleep with their two eyes closed, and not with fear of the unknown or being attacked.
The Governor intimated the CP that in line with his M.O.R.E agenda which is anchored to enhance peace and security, promised to partner with the CP and provide all the necessary supports including the donation of patrol vehicles to the Command to enable him and his men carry out their duty of policing effectively.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori did not fail to commend the out gone Commissioner of Police, now AIG Wale Abass for all he did for Deltans while serving in Delta State and assured the CP that Deltans will continue to cooperate with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in the state for the state to have peace to enhance speedy growth and development.
The Governor also stated that the state has inaugurated the Police Trust Fund and he promised to support just as he encouraged other stakeholders to partner with the state to support the Trust Fund.
