Contrary to the rumour circulating in some quarters that the Deputy Senate President and Delta State Governorship Candidate on the platform of All Progressive Congress(APC) is not a Christian, the authority of St. Jude Catholic Church, GRA, Effurun has come up to say that the Governorship candidate is not just a member of the Christian body but a dedicated and baptized member of the church.
In a press statement signed by very Rev. Fr. Mark Ikeke of St Jude Catholic Church said, Senator Ovie Omo- Agege is a practising member of and a communicant in St Jude Catholic Church, GRA, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state. According to the statement, the Authority said, this is election season adding that, political leaders and their supporters should strive to uphold decorum and show sacred lines and love in their campaigns just as they said , they hope and pray that the Lord Jesus Christ should thoroughly guide every man’s actions and inactions.
Part of the statement reads:” Our attention has been drawn to a claim or rumour that one of our parishioners, Senator Bar. Ovie Omo- Agege (Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate) is not a Christian… Senator Barr. Ovie Agege is baptized and practicing member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is a member of and a communicant in St. Jude Catholic Church GRA, Effurun in Uvwie LGA”.
The statement said, the purpose of this information is to encourage decorum and uphold the truth as regards Senator’s religious identity and therefore urged the general public to disregard this false claim by these people who said Senator Agege is not a Christian adding, they are nothing but mischief makers.
