Senator Seriake Dickson, Senator representing Bayelsa West has called on political leaders and stakeholders of Ijaw nation to support their traditional rulers.
Senator Dickson said this is important in fostering peace and stability in the Clans and Kingdoms in Ijaw nation. The Lawmaker stated this when he led a delegation of Traditional rulers, Elders, Political stakeholders,Women and Youth leaders of Bayelsa West on a courtesy visit to His Royal Majesty Oboro- Gbaraun the second, Aketepe Agadagba, the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom,
The former Governor of Bayelsa State thanked the King and his Council of Chiefs for maintaining order, peace and stability in the kingdom which according to him, is a strategic part of the Niger Delta and Nigeria at large. He also appreciated High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo for his contributions in combating the vandalism of strategic national assets within the territory as they do their best to reduce the environmental hazard occasioned by illegal refining of crude oil adding that, it shows his rich understanding of the terrain.
He expressed gratitude for President Bola Tinubu, the Petroleum Minister and the NNPC for working with the Tantita boss stressing that, the partnership needs to be strengthened. In a remark, the Royal Father thanked Senator Dickson and his delegation for the visit stressing that a visit of this sort is important in building cordiality between the Ijaw people of Niger Delta.
The Royal father also commended Senator Dickson describing him as a true son of Ijaw nation. He stated that the contributions of Senator Dickson alongside other illustrious sons of Niger Delta have continued to take the Ijaw nation forward.
Speaking in his Ijaw dialect, the King prayed God to bless the Lawmaker, strengthen him to continue to deliver on his duties and make contributions that will take the Ijaw nation forward. He also prayed God to grant him and his entourage safe journey back home.In a chat with newsmen during the visit, Dr. O O. Osusu, Deputy Chairman, Sagbama Caucus and a member of the delegation of Senator Dickson expressed gratitude to the King and the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom for the warm reception given them.
He also thanked High Chief Ekpemupolo for his contributions in fostering peace and stability in Gbaramatu Kingdom and the Niger Delta by way of combating oil theft in the region.
