Against the background of crisis rearing its ugly head in Rivers State, Senator Seriake Dickson, PDP Bayelsa West has appealed to Niger Deltans especially youths of Rivers State and entire Ijaw Nation to always be peaceful and resist any form of provocation or incitement to violence.
Senator Dickson made this call in a statement shortly after he paid a visit to Governor Siminalaye Fubara, Governor of Rivers State where they x-rayed the political developments in the state in the last couple of weeks.
Senator Dickson commended Governor Fubara’s peaceful disposition in the face of unprecedented turbulence in the state just as he appreciated the people for maintaining peace and order even in the midst of the extreme political development.
He urged all stakeholders to place the overall well-being of Rivers State people, the Niger Delta region and the entire country in their decisions, utterances and actions just as he urged Retired Vice Admiral Ibol- Ete Ibas, the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, to refrain from actions that do not build confidence, quick and amicable resolution of the crisis in the State.
While stressing that there are no perfect fathers and sons, Senator Dickson called on President Bola Tinubu to prevail on stakeholders, especially the FCT Minister and Governor Fubara, to find a common ground for tolerance and accommodation for a quick resolution of the issue at stake.
He called on all leaders from the Niger Delta at the state and National level to play an active part in the resolution of the issues just as he said, the Ijaw Nation is not at war with the President or the APC-led Federal administration.
