Prof. Hilary Ijeoma Owamah

“Education”, they say, “is bedrock of success”. To be counted among those who have made it academically is not a day’s job, it requires hardwork, diligence and humility and above all the grace of God which is anchored on prayers. One of those who can be counted among top academics is Prof. Hilary Ijeoma Owamah. He is the man of the moment having transversed and recorded successes in different areas of life especially in the academic field. His contributions towards societal growth and development through various researches he has carried out in his field of study have paved way for his continuous recognition in the academic world and the world at large.
While one is not here to outline the various achievements in academic world, and the world at large, one would not fail to mention that Engr. Prof. Owamah has to his credit about 60 scientific articles in Scopus and Clarivate Analytics indexed journals, and some book chapters. Little wonder, he was conferred with both the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE) and the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers(FNIEE).
Engr. Prof. Owamah’s academic prowess did not go unrecognised as he was made to serve as Deputy Director, Directorate of Intensive and Part-time Studies (2020-2022), and Head, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (2017-2020) both in Delta State University Abraka.
Without prejudice, it is on record that, apart Delta State University,Abraka, Prof. Owamah had earlier lectured in Landmark University,Omu-Aran, Kwara State, Nigeria and has served in many high profile university based committees.
As Engr. Prof. Owamah continues to serve the academic world, he is currently saddled with the portfolio of the Director of Academic Planning at the Delta State University, (DELSU) Abraka, Nigeria. It is on record that under his watch as Director of Academic Planning, Delta State University, for the first time, received the National Universities Commission (NUC) full accreditation of her entire ninety-two (92) Programmes.
