The Nigeria Police have rescued two kidnapped victims in Delta State. The victims were said to have been taken to Oghara-Ugbenu forest but were abandoned when the operatives of DPO, Oghara Division, CSP Olasunkanmi Musiliu and his team combed that forest. In a press statement signed by Delta State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said on the 30th August 2023, at about 1330 hours, the DPO Oghara Division got information of the kidnapped victims saying, with the efforts of Anti cult- Unit, SIB Unit and the local vigilante groups, combed the forest on the 31st August 2023 adding that upon searching the scene, four live cartridges, one Tecno Spark Phone, one ATM card and three Sim cards of different telecommunication networks were recovered just as the statement said, the victims have been reunited with their family.
Part of the statement:” On the 30th August, 2023 about 1330 hours, DPO Oghara Division received a distress call that two persons were suspects to have been kidnapped at Oghara-Ugbenu Link Road and their whereabouts, not known.. the Division Police Officer of Oghara CSP Olasunkanmi Musiliu …on credible and technical generated information, led a combined team of Police operatives. The operation rescued the two kidnapped victims unhurt and have since been reunited with their families…”
In a related development , Safe Delta Squad have arrested one Michael Danjuma at Ogbezoma Quarters, Okpanam. According to the statement, his arrest was sequel to the information got by the commander of Safe Delta. The statement said, the suspect who is 23 years is a native of Latang in Plateau State but lives in Hausa Market by Custom Okpanan. According to the statement, he(suspect) specializes in vandalizing of cables. When searched warrant was carried out at his residence, one Beretta Pistol, one magazine, some vandalized cables, two ATM cards, and one steel pairs of scissors were recovered while suspect is in police custody for further investigation.
Part of the statement reads:” …the Safe Delta Squad recovered a Beretta Pistol from one Michael Danjuma ‘m’ . On 1st September, 2023at about 0735 hours, while acting on a complaint received from distress caller (name withheld), the Commander of the Safe Delta, detailed operation who stormed Ogbezoma Quarters..”
Again, the Eagle Net Special Squad operatives, on the 31st August 2023 at about 0900 hours arrested one Chimuanya Francis Onwusonye, ‘m’ at Isieke Quarters , Asaba. The statement said the suspect who is 30 years old (male) resides in Onitsha, Anambra State. According to the statement, when he was searched, one Beretta Pistol with four rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him while the suspect is in Police custody and investigation is on.
Commenting on the developments, the Commissioner of Police, Delta state, CP Wale Abass said the Command is ready to flush criminals and crimes out of the state just as he appealed to members of the public to be on the alert as the rate of crime is on the increase especially at this Ember period. He solicited the co-operation of the public to give useful information to enable them curb these menace just as he assured members of the public of adequate protection of lives and property in the state.
