The Delta State Police Command has neutralized one kidnap suspect and rescued the kidnapped victim in Delta Community. In a press release signed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe said, on the 13th December, 2022, at about 0200 hours,the Divisional Police Officer, Ozoro got a distress call that a man living along Owhelogbo Road in Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area, was attacked by assailants who shot at him, forced him into the trunk of his own car and sped off. According to the statement, the DPO, CSP Ogedengbe Areguamen on receiving the information, mobilized and led his police operatives/ vigilantes to Owhelogbo Road and other parts of exit in Ozoro in a bid to rescue the kidnapped victim and possibly arrest the suspects.
With that, when they (Police Officers) sighted a Corolla car with the registration number that matched with the description given by the distress caller, they attempted to intercept the suspects but they (suspects) abandoned the victim in truck, fired some shot and escaped into the nearby bush. The Police operatives did not give up as they went after the suspects. In the process, the police was able to neutralise one of them while other three escaped. The items recovered from the suspects are one locally cut-to-size double barrel gun and the victim’s vehicle. The kidnapped victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment while efforts are on to arrest the fleeing other members of the gang.
Part of the release reads:” In the attempt to intercept them, the suspects abandoned the victim in the truck of the car, disembarked from the vehicle and fired some shot while escaping into the nearby bush”. In his reaction to the development, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali FCIA, PSC+ commended the efforts of the DPO, Ozoro and his team for a job well done just as he commended the general members of the public for always giving useful information to the police in this direction. He therefore encourages the members of the public to always partner with the Police to rid the state of criminality. The statement added:” …Also appreciates the goodwill of members of the public for always giving useful and timely information to the police in the state”.
