The Delta State Police Command has said there are no hiding place for kidnappers and armed robbers in the state especially in Warri and Ughelli as the Command has declared total war against them and to prove this, one of the suspects was said to have been neutralized. Bailout Magazine learnt that on the 4th May, 2023, about 0013 hours, the DPO ‘B’ Division Warri SP Bolarinwa Alabi got a distress call that some robbers snatched a black Lexus car along Warri/Sapele Road.
The DPO was said to have swiftly mobilized his men and trailed the hoodlums and when the hoodlums who were four in number sighted the Police team, attempted to escape into the nearby bush just as they(hoodlums) opened fire on the police and the team quickly responded. In the process, one of the suspects was hit and was fatally wounded. Bailout Magazine learnt that the wounded however, could not make it as he died when he was undergoing treatment. It was learnt that, items recovered from them are :one locally made cut to size double barrel gun with two live cartridges and one suspected stolen vehicle with reg. no PYN 595 PW.
In a related development, Bailout Magazine learnt that on 1st May 2023, at about 2200 hours, as a proactive measure, the DPO Ughelli Division led Police operatives to patrol along Ughelli/Asaba Road, during which, they intercepted one Odogun Ifeanyi ‘m’ 36yrs and one other suspect and when search was conducted on them, one locally made single barrel gun with four live cartridges and one jack knife were recovered. On the same date, the DPO and his men also arrested one Ediri Omote ‘m’ age 45 years, and two others, and one locally made single barrel gun with nine expended cartridges were recovered from them.

Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations, DSP Bright Edafe said these actions were based on the meeting of Deputy Commissioner DCP Johnson Adenola with Police operations on the 3rd May 2023 with key officers of the Command to strategize ways to nip the activities of kidnappers on the bud hence tactical Commanders were directed to proceed to Ughelli and Warri with their men to reinforce the division.
According to DSP Bright Edafe, the DCP has assured Deltans that Command will flush out crimes and criminality in the state just as he called on Deltans to provide useful information to the Command to enable it carry out its assignments effectively. According to him, the Police rely heavily on information from the public, and it is expected that any suspicious persons or movements will be promptly reported to the police.
He said:”The DCP operations assure Deltans that the Command will not leave any stone unturned in the crime against crimes and criminality in the state.
