The Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State was agog as HRM Richard Layeguen Ogbon Ogoni Oghoro I JP. the Ovie of Olomu Kingdom burial rite began in earnest. The programme which started on Monday saw the paying of homage by Eyanvwien Ruling House.
In his address, the Akpile (Prime Minister) of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN, said, it is a good thing for Eyanvwien Ruling House to have started off by paying homage saying, it is the significant of the whole process. He however said, whether one is from a Ruling House or not, there should be peace in the kingdom. On the attribute of the late Monarch, the legal practitioner said, the departed Monarch was knowledgeable and pragmatic saying, God gave him grace to live long while on earth adding, the Kingdom would miss him.
On his part, the President-General of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Moses Taiga, said the importance of the day is the transitioning of the noble King saying, it is not only the day for the period the programme lasted.
Olorogun Moses Taiga who is the immediate past President-General of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide said, the departed Monarch is not only a King for the Olomu people, but President of Urhobo Traditional Council and King worldwide. According to him, not many people can live up to 106 years hence; the late Monarch deserved great respect at his demise. He said:” We revered him because not many people live up to 106 years”.
According to him, all the various houses are united as both the Eyanvwien, Oghoro and Uhurie Ruling Houses are one family hence Olomu sons and daughters are seen as one.
Not left out is Chairman Eyavwien Ruling House, Olorogun Samuel Oboramohwoyeren. He said, the whole programme starts with the homage saying, the departed Monarch led a life worthy of emulation hence they are to pay him the respect he deserves.
He therefore called on all Olomu sons and daughters and Eyanvwien Ruling House which comprise of Akperhe-Olomu, Okpavuerhe-Olomu, Ophori and Oviri-Olomu Communities to emulate the late King by sustaining the existing peace in Olomu Kingdom saying, the Monarch was a peace man before he passed on.
The highpoints of the ceremony were praises, cultural dances from Okpavuerhe-Olomu, Ophori-Olomu and Udje Oviri-Olomu which were used to entertain the guests in the ceremony.
