Nigeria Union of Journalists, Warri Correspondents’ Chapel has appealed to the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to rehabilitate Eburu Road off Okumagba Avenue which leads to its new press Centre: High Chief Dr Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo Press Centre.
In a communique issued by the Union at the end of its Maiden Congress which was held at the centre on Friday, the body appealed to Governor Oborevwori to rehabilitate the road to enable, apart from members of the fourth estate of the realm, other road users to pass the road. The body also appealed to the state government to tackle the perennial flooding in some parts of Warri, Udu, Uvwie and Okuokoko in Okpe LGA to ameliorate the suffering of the residents of the area by constructing good drainages alongside the roads especially as the rain intensifies its down pour.
According to the communique, Congress, also encouraged the Warri Uvwie Environs Development Agency (WUEDA) to hasten the ongoing road and drainage reconstruction at Eboh and other adjoining streets of Okumagba Avenue, Warri. Part of the communique reads:“… only access road to the High Chief Government Ekpemupolo Press Centre at Eburu Street, off Okumagba Avenue Road, is in a deplorable state and, therefore, appealed to the Delta State Governor to extend his magic wand in reconstructing the road.”
However, the body expressed gratitude to the state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the flyover projects at PTI Junction, Enerhen Junction and DSC Roundabout in Uvwie just as it called on the Governor to direct the contractor, Julius Berger, to carry out remedial work on the Effurun Roundabout/DSC Roundabout stretch of the Road that had turned into gullies in order to ameliorate the unending loss of man-hours.
The body used this medium to express gratitude to Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and its Chairman, High Chief Government Owiezide Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo for building and equipping a befitting edifice for practising journalists in Warri, Delta State adding that, the beautiful edifice will, in no doubt, improve the performance of media practitioners and credible journalism in the state in particular and Nigeria at large.
The Union also immensely thanked the Managing Director, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, High Chief Kestin Pondi and Dr Paul Bebenimibo( Registrar, Nigeria Maritime University, Okerenkoko) for their efforts and roles played to ensure the noble edifice for the Union come to fruition.
The Congress also sent its warm appreciation to the Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, His Royal Majesty, Oghenechuko Morris Eyekpimi, Owhotenu 1,and his counterpart, the Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom, HRM, Monday Obukohwo Whiskey(PhD) Udurhie I for not only monitoring and ensuring a seamless construction of the edifice, and contributions to the realization of the Press Centre respectively but for taking out time of their busy schedules to grace the occasion.The Union also saluted its National leader and pathfinder, Asiwaju Sola Adebayo, for his unending sagacity and generosity, as well as initiating the idea that birthed the project.

The appreciation would not be complete without commending the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for inaugurating the state-of-the-art building just as the Congress expressed gratitude to Executive Director, Projects, DESOPADEC, Olorogun Ebenezer Okorodudu PhD, for gracing the occasion on behalf of the Governor.
Recall that Nigeria Union Journalists’ Warri Correspondents Chapel was built and furnished by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited and it was commissioned on Friday, 27th June ,2025 amidst jubilation.
