In order for Hensard University to fulfill its mandate of manpower training hence the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, practical skills, entrepreneurship, innovation, and students’ holistic development. The University strives to prepare students for successful careers and lifelong learning through its dual certification and partnership with different universities and institutions across the world. It offers a diverse range of programmes aims at empowering students to make a positive impact in their chosen fields and society as a whole.
Against this background, more academic programmes have been approved by National Universities Commission (NUC) for the University. In a letter signed by Abubakar M. Girei, Acting Director of Academic Planning, NUC, confirmed that the additional undergraduate academic programmes that have been approved by the body in Hensard University, the first private University in Bayelsa State are: MBBS Medicine and Surgery, B.N Sc. Nursing Science, B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering, B.Eng. Mechatronics Engineering, B.Eng.Civil Engineering, B. Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Others are: B.Eng.Petroleum and Gas Engineering, B.Eng.Marine Engineering, B.Sc Anatomy, Physiology, B.Sc Complementary and Alternative Medicine, B.HIM. Health Information Management, B.MLS. Medical Laboratory Science, B.Sc. Physiotherapy, B.Sc.Public Health and B.Sc. Radiography.
Earlier in the letter dated 22nd January, 2025, NUC had approved 14 programmes, all to be offered full-time at the University with effect from 2024/2025. The programmes are: Doctor Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), LL.B. (Law), B.Sc. Ed.Biology Education, B.Sc. Ed. Mathematics Education, B.Sc.Ed. Chemistry Education, B.Sc. Ed. Integrated Science, B.Ed. Educational Management and B.Ed. Primary Education. Others are: B.Ed. Guidance and Counseling, B.Ed Entrepreneurship Education, B.Sc. Ed. Business Education, B.Sc. Ed. Agricultural Education and B.Ed. Education Technology.
Commenting on the development, the Vice- Chancellor Prof. Dileep Kumar M. expressed delight at the approval and lauded the commitment of the university’s Chancellor,Senator Seriake Dickson, to have expanded the institution’s programmes and making the people get access to quality education with Hensard global linkages. Prof. Kumar assured prospective students and their parents of Hensard University’s dedication to providing a world-class educational experience adding that, the institution is one which is dedicated to providing high-quality education across a wide range of disciplines.
With this latest approvals, Hensard University is running 59 programmes across 12 faculties in Agriculture, Business, Education, Engineering, Medicine, and Sciences.
