The President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, has been commended for retaining Mr. Samuel Ogbuku as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) for the best interest of the oil rich region.
The commendation was made on Monday in Warri by the Niger Delta Oil Communities Agenda (NIDOCA), oil producing communities advocacy group.
Pastor Emma Akpovoka, Director, Media and Publicity, NIDOCA, in a statement said President Tinubu made the right choice by retaining Ogbuku as Chief Executive to sustain the ongoing transformation in NDDC.
Part of the statement reads: “Mr. Samuel Ogbuku, Chief Executive of NDDC has not committed any offence for such an undue and malicious attacks on his personality. We have read in the media how certain persons and groups have attempted to malign Mr. Samuel Ogbuku for no reason. The President, Tinubu in his wisdom, exempted Chief Executive Officers of the recently dissolved Boards, Agencies and parastatals. We advise those attacking Mr. Samuel Ogbuku to check again the statement by Willie Bassey, Director, Information, office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The directive was obvious that until such a time new boards are constituted, the Chief Executive Officers of the Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions, and Government-Owned Companies are directed to refer matters requiring the attention of their Boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their respective supervisory Ministries and Offices.”
The group appealed for calm, and urged Niger Delta stakeholders and particularly oil and gas producing communities to support Ogbuku and management of the interventionist agency to reorganize the commission for the benefit of the region.
Part of the statement reads:” The NDDC was established for the development of region. It is a fact that the commission has not met the desired expectations. This is not the time to attack Ogbuku, but we encourage stakeholders to proffer solutions and ideas to the management for a commensurate growth and development of the region, especially the oil producing communities”
