Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area, Delta State, His Royal Majesty,Monday Whiskey said he needed to be equipped educationally to be able to rule Idjerhe Kingdom. The Royal Father stated this when speaking with newsmen after he has been awarded Doctorate Degree(PhD) in Mass Communication in Delta State University’s 16th Convocation Ceremony which took place over the weekend.
According to him, education is paramount to everyone as it shows one direction to a better life. He said, even the mechanic needs education to able him do well his chosen field so also carpenter, and all other professions.His words:” Everybody needs education, even the native doctor, mechanic, to able to perform well in their chosen careers .”According to him, many people may wonder being a king already, he doesn’t need education, he said as a Royal Father, he needs education to bring out good policies that better the lots of his people.
His words:” People begin to ask me what do I need education for? l know with PhD in Mass Communication,l will rule my people better: people will understand my policies and programmes better, especially, those that have some level of education”.

On how he was able combine the rulership of the Kingdom and education, he said, it was not easy but being a task he must fulfill, he created out time from very busy schedule to attend lectures and today, he was able to graduate. While expressing gratitude to God Almighty for him to be able to scale through the hurdle and graduated, he encouraged all and sundry especially journalists to improve on themselves by furthering their education as it has a lot of gains.
His words:”Each time l come to school, l sit by my corner, take my lectures and go back home, by the grace of God l was to able to do it for the two years. I give glory to God, l am rewarded excellently in this ceremony. I am grateful to God and l encourage journalists to pursue education, education can brighten your future”.
