Tantita Security Services Nigeria Ltd, a private security outfit in Nigeria owned by High Chief Dr. Government Ekpomupolo alias Tompolo has urged the various communities in Niger Delta in particular and Nigeria at large to harp on their God-given mangrove forest for money venture instead of causing environmental degradation through pipelines vandalism and oil theft.
Executive Director, Operation and Technical, of the organization, Captain Warrendi Enisuoh stated this in a chat with newsmen during 1st Pan-Ijaw Economic Summit 2024 titled: “Environmental Regeneration and Economic sustainability”, held at Chief DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Government House, Onopa, Yenagoa in Bayelsa State on Friday.
Captain Warrendi Enisuoh whose presentation is centred on infrastructure which would come from this whole carbon capture, industry and protection of already existing infrastructure so that the government will be assisted said, the organization has fought against oil theft since it existence which has boosted the quorum of oil production in Nigeria.
According to him, instead of the various communities to burst and vandalise pipelines, thereby destroying their environment to further prevent them from fishing and farming, there are other ways by which they can make money from the environment which is very is rich in mangrove trees. According to him,since one tree alone can absorb 80 kilogrammes of CO2 in a year, and with thousands of trees in their communities if they partner with boundaries commission, they can exchange them for income and make good money.
His words:” If they(Communities) do not pollute the environment any further, these trees can strive and we will be able to take stock of these trees and able to generate income for the companies that scream carbon. These companies are around the world.
“Many of them are willing to partner with the region like this in exchange for green in development to participate in industrial development that is not going to create further carbon emissions, create more global warming and also able to improve the health and well-being of the inhabitants of the region along side with the development they are going to face”.
Captain Warrendi Enisuoh who said the organization has been able to develop technologies to curb pipelines vandalism and oil theft in Nigeria through its research department and able to determine from space, using drones within the atmosphere and satellite images, to see if pipelines and the soil in the region are being tampered with by people said it is impossible to separate social challenges from security issues adding that the organization has market the idea of carbon screaming, carbon credit and its capture to create this awareness on the communities, corporate organization and the government.
He therefore used this medium to call on the various communities to do away with pipelines vandalism and oil theft not only to save the environment from further pollution but save the natural resources which the nation depends on its growth and development.
