Political Pressure Group under the auspices of Delta Democratic Platform has charged political parties’ candidates vying for different offices to keep to their electioneering campaign promises when eventually voted into power by the electorates come 2023 or else be voted out of power come 2027. It said , not all political office holders in this political dispensation are likely to go the next one because of their non- performances when they assumed office since 2019 after the general elections.
The group made this known immediately after their enlarged meeting through its Chairman, Comrade Paul Okotie in a chat with Bailout Magazine over the weekend in Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area ,Delta state.
Comrade Okotie said, during political campaigns period such as this, many parties’ flag bears and their parties make a lot of promises to the electorates to buy their mind adding, immediately after the electorates have voted for them and occupied the office, they forget about the people (who put them into power) , this he said, is not good for a democratic process and progress. He said:”You can see, at this time, many of the political parties’ candidates and their parties make a lot of promises to the electorates in their manifesto but immediately they get to the office, they forget about them”.
Comrade Okotie said, in this 2023 general elections, it would not be business as usual as Deltans and Nigerians are now wise saying, many of the political office holders who did not perform well in this administration almost winding up and campaigning again to be re-elected, would be voted out. He said, the electorates in this time around, would assess the level of performance(s) of any of the candidates in this administration and decide who to cast their vote for in the next political dispensation. He said:”It would not be business as usual; many of the electorates are wise now. They have to assess the level of performance(s) of the candidates’ right from 2019 when they were voted into power to date, before casting their vote. This time around, the idea of rigging the election has died, votes would count”.
He said:”The different political parties’ flag bearers should mobilize and campaign with what they have achieved in the office over the years and wish to continue”. It is now the duty of the electorates see what they(Political Office Holders) have done for the people since they have been in the office 2019 to judge if they would be re-elected or not. He used the medium to appeal to the members of the group and Deltans in particular and Nigerians at large who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to do so, to enable them vote for the right persons- the persons of their choice. The political pressure group with the sole objectives is to ensure, there is good governance across the states of the federal said, this is only way the country can move forward. He therefore charged all and sundry to ensure they participate fully in 2023 general elections to avoid quacks taking over the reign of government.
