It gathering of journalists on Monday across the state in Asaba, the state capital as Press Centre was commissioned by the Governor of the state, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Okowa expressed joy for successful completion of the project saying, with the completion of the project, there is a befitting place for journalists to be addressed and gave thanks to God for the building to have been completed and now being commissioned for the day.
Governor Okowa expressed thanks to the Ministry of Housing and Nigeria Union of Journalists for their co-operation that has made it possible for the Press Centre to be completed.
Governor Okowa said”:You will agree with me that this is a better place for the journalists to be addressed and l am sure, you will enjoy it by the time you get inside the building”
Senator Dr Okowa expressed sorry for not being able to commission this project for some time now as it was due to his busy schedule. He thanked Journalists for their patience for him to have arrived late to the venue of the commissioning.
He said:” l am very sorry for coming a bit late, it was due to one thing or the other”.
Earlier in his address, the Delta State Commissioner for information, Charles Aniagwu said the building of the Press Centre is possible due to smooth relationship between the government and the media in the state and prayed that this relationship continues to blossom.
He said:” No doubt, the building and the commissioning of the Press Centre is possible due to the good relationship between the state government and media”.
He therefore thanked Governor Okowa for a good job done. The project which was said to started in 2010 was earlier abandoned but due to benevolence of Governor Okowa, it has been completed and being commissioned for the day. The high-point of the commissioning was the cutting of the tape by Governor Okowa amidst cheers.
