The relaxation centre of student Union Government (SUG) of Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State has finally been commissioned.
The project which was commissioned recently by Senator Ede Dafinone who represents Delta Central Senatorial District in House of Representatives was embarked upon by 13th FUPRE SUG under the leadership of President, Comrade Edemakiota Etiosa Oghenemaro as President. The landmark project, no doubt, marks a significant milestone in students’ leadership, innovation, and infrastructural development within the university community.

The commissioning also saw the inspection of the completed solar-powered water projects that serve B1 and B2 Hostels by the delegation which further underscores the administration’s commitment to students’ welfare and campus development.
In a brief speech on his achievements, Comrade Comrade Edemakiota Etiosa Oghenemaro expressed gratitude to the family, friends and well-wishers for their unwavering support and prayers throughout his tenure as 13th FUPRE SUG President. According to him, the Relaxation Centre is one of the largest SUG capital projects in the history of FUPRE. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of the 11th SUG administration led by Comrade by Comrade Samson Kisoranking and the 12th SUG Administration under Comrade Benjamin Omatseye for initiating and commencing the project. Comrade Etiosa also thanked specially, the past student Union leaders whose legacies have continued to inspire progress in the University community just as he praised the efforts of the management for its roles in moving the Ivory Tower to the next level.

He also thanked Dean of Students, Prof. (Mrs.) Nwokolo Chinelo, the Vice Chancellors Emeritus, Prof. Rim Rukeh, and the current Vice Chancellor, Prof. Agbalagba Ezekiel, whose mentorship, guidance, and leadership style played vital role successful completion of the project. The 13 FUPRE SUG President said the entire student community also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Senator Ede Dafinone to have honoured the Union’s invitation by traveling all the way from the National Assembly, Abuja, to personally commission the project — a gesture widely applauded by students and stakeholders.
It is also noteworthy that under the leadership of Comrade Edemakiota Etiosa Oghenemaro, the 13th SUG Administration successfully completed and delivered several other impactful projects across the university. They include the construction of the Prof. Rim Rukeh SUG Bus Stop located at the entrance of the Hall of Residence; the Faith SUG Solar Water Project, providing a stable 24-hour water supply to the Ugbomoro Girls’ Hostel; extensive solar street lighting installations; and the deployment of high-capacity yellow-orange floodlights to enhance campus visibility and aesthetics at night.

Again, the administration of Comrade Etiosa completed the Phase One, Phase Two, and Phase Three SUG Solar Water Projects which have significantly reduced water scarcity across the campus, alongside several other interventions aimed at improving students’ life while on campus. According to Comrade Etiosa, the students are happy just as he said the students’ leadership reaffirmed its commitment to service, excellence, and responsible governance. According to him, they give thanks to God for the success achieved and expressed optimism for stronger leadership and greater development for the campus, the state and the country at large.
