Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has warned fuel marketers in the state against hoarding of Petroleum products especially, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) just as he warned against the price hike of the product.
In press statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary , Festus Ahon, on Tuesday in Asaba, the state capital and made available for news men, the Governor was said have warned the marketers not to hoard the products just he said, they (Marketers) should not hike the price as government would not take it lightly with them saying if they do, they are making life difficult for Deltans.
According to the statement, it is the desire of the government to grow the economy of the State through its MORE agenda and therefore solicited the support of all stakeholders in its determination to make life more meaningful for Deltans.
According to the statement, the government has heard and seen the reactions of the Petroleum Marketers in the state based on the announcement of the alleged subsidy removal by the federal government led by President Bola Tinubu.
Part of then statement reads:” The state government had been inundated with reports of filling stations in the state hoarding products and thereby creating artificial scarcity with intent to hike price. The Delta State Governor views the action of these marketers as unpatriotic and waging of economic war against the people of the state. The statement further said as a government, it has watched marketers exploit Deltans of their hard earned income through creation of artificial scarcity”
According to the statement, he called on marketers to be patriotic and continue to sell their products to the general public at the official pump price adding that, the relevant government agencies have been directed to monitor the situation and ensure total compliance with the directive.
Part of the statement reads:” The state government would not hesitate to take necessary action against any filling station hoarding the product or who is caught selling above the official price”.
