Against the background of some persons going round to sell tickets to shuttle bus drivers in the state claiming to be under the mandate of FRSC, Delta State, the authority of FRSC has said it has not mandated anybody to do so.
In a press statement signed by the Sector Commander, Delta State, CC Udeme B. Eshiet, and made available to newsmen said some unscrupulous persons have been going around extorting money from unsuspecting shuttle bus drivers through sales of stickers claiming to be FRSC stickers and that it would protect them from arrest if traffic law violation is established. The Sector Commander said the Command is not in partnership with anyone to perpetrate such unwholesome practice as it negates what the Corps was established to carry out and therefore should not allow themselves to be scammed through such antics of these mischief makers and extortionists.
Part of the statement reads: “It has come to the knowledge of the Sector Commander, Delta State CC Udeme B. Eshiet, that some unscrupulous persons have been going around extorting money from unsuspecting shuttle bus drivers through sales of stickers claiming to be FRSC stickers and that it will protect them from arrest if traffic law violation is established“.
The Sector Commander therefore advised drivers and road users generally to obey traffic laws and regulations, desist from offering bribe to the FRSC Operatives, avoid speeding, overloading, use of unsafe tyres and driving under influence of alcohol and drugs as the Corps will soon commence a joint operation code name: “Operation Sanitatize Asaba– Benin and Asaba– Onitsha Highway.
Part of the statement reads:”The motoring public and road users are by this development advised to obey all traffic laws and regulations, desist from offering bribe to the FRSC Operatives, avoid speeding, overloading, use of unsafe tyres and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs…”
