Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori delivering his address at the ground breaking ceremony of Warri/ Effurun Sapele Road rehabilitation on Tuesday

Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori said the partnership between the federal government and the state government will make life better for the people of Delta State. Governor Oborevwori stated this today, Tuesday, at the ground breaking ceremony for the rehabilitation of Warri/ Effurun Sapele Road, Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of the state. His words:” I also want to say, real development happens faster when the federal and state government work together. As it is today, Federal Government and Delta State are working together. The partnership between the federal government and the state will make life better for our people”.
According to him, this rehabilitation work is another step in infrastructure renewal of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government in collaboration with the Delta State government as it is road that connects major cities in the state and East West Road and other roads in the country. His words :”As you all know, Warri/Benin Road is a federal road, very busy road, a critical infrastructure that connects major cities in Delta State and East West high way which is the gate way to Edo and other states of the Federation”.

Governor Oborevwori said the road is a stretch of the dual carriage way of five kilometers of both sides of the dual carriage way which totals 10 kilometers as the new section of the road include a 200 millimetre thick continuous reinforced concrete pavement and an expanded pavement width of 8.8 metres on either side, 2.8 metres on re-enforced concrete shoulders and 12 kilometers of water concrete drain of both sides of the entire road section including front water discharge channel. According to him, this road is being constructed by the request by the Federal Ministry of works. According to him, the road is constructed to put smiles on the faces of the people as the people are the interest of the government in spite of the fact that, the road is a federal one.
His words: “Even though it is a federal road, the users are our people. Our interest is not who owns the road but the comfort and safety of our people…Our intervention today is strategic and people centred” According to him, with the completion of the road, the rate of crime would be reduced to the barest minimum as security agents would be able to do their work effectively. He said, the since the rate of crime has reduced in the state, his administration would continue to make the state peaceful in line with his peace agenda mantra .He therefore commended the law enforcement agency for the peaceful disposition in the state.

Earlier in his address, the Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area, Hon.Chief Onoriode Ofoni, said, the administration of Governor Oborevwori is to bring a meaningful development to every part of Delta State just as he said, it points to the fact that, the Governor is acting on the interest of the people. He therefore thanked the Governor for the project as it has improved on the quality of life of the people.
Others who spoke include: the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM, Dr. Emmanuel Sideso Abe I, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom,HRM Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd) ,Orhue 1, the Commissioner for works(High Ways Urban Roads), Hon. Reuben Rume Yakubu Izeze, among others. They all commended the Governor Oborevwori for this project. The ground breaking ceremony was attended by top government functionaries, among others.
