Many electricity consumers in Ugbolokposo Community in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area have decried the extortion and other unwholesome activities of staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc ( known as NEPA) and therefore called on the company authority to come to their rescue in this regard.
According to the electricity consumers, the staff deployed to the community have continued to engage in evil activities of denying BEDC, also known as NEPA of the money accruing to the Federal Government’s owned company.
Anonymous consumers said:” Apart from the extortion, the workers are involved in sabotaging acts capable of denying the company of their money. We are tired of these retrogressive acts which do not fetch more money to the company’s account”
According to the consumers, similar illegal activities are also being carried out at Okoribi, Alegbo and neighbouring communities, adding that, they would not be party to the unwholesome activities of the workers as they believe that, it is not the best interest of the organization.
They said:” We are law abiding citizens and we don’t want to be part of these unwholesome acts, and we strongly believe it is inimical to the progress of the company” The aggrieved community members therefore called on the company to save them from this unwholesome activities being perpetrated by these workers by calling the perpetrators to order.
