Few days away from 2023 general elections, a Leader in All Progressives Congress(APC), Okumagba Ward in Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, Ogbolo Paul said, he dumped his party(APC) to support Commodore Omatseye Nesiama(rtd) a candidate for Delta South Senatorial District on the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party because he(Paul) wants Delta South to experience speedy growth and development they have yearned for over the years.
Paul stated this in a town hall meeting organized by Commodore Nesiama(rtd) in the area during in his campaign tours. According to Paul, Commodore Nesiama’s message of hope and possibility is truly what the people want as he kept to his promise to a woman who recently delivered baby boy and gave her twenty thousand(N20,000) and therefore assured Commodore Nesiama(rtd) of his support as he has accepted the message of hope and pledged to mobilize his supporters for him(Commodore Nesiama) in February 25 general elections.
He said:”I am a full member of APC and everyone here knows me as APC Leader in this Community. But for what I have heard today, I have moved to your side. Your words are nothing but the truth and the mind of the people. I move to support you because, I see you as the choice of the people and I believe, all my Exco will work to support you.”
On her part, Joyce Oghenero Kakaide said, they have yearned for people like Commodore Nesiama (rtd) to take over the mantle of leadership and therefore assured him of their unflinching supports at the polls.
Also, a group under the auspices of Isoko Christian Leaders for Good Governance in Aviara Community, Isoko South Local Government Area , Delta State said, this is not the time for the people to vote by political parties anymore adding, it is the time to vote the person that can deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. Bishop (Dr.) Martins Echegbe who spoke on behalf of the group said they would vote for Commodore Nesiama (rtd) come February 25 this year’s polls. Those in this group include, Prof (Rev.) Felix Ebode, Bishop Elect S.E.E. Emajemite, Bishop (Dr.) Okriko. O. Jonah, Bishop(Dr.) Gospel Oyise, Bishop Joshua Opute, Evang. Kingsley Whezina, Snr. APT(Dr.) Okeleke and Rev. (Dr.) Amos Obi among others.
Earlier in his address, the Delta South Senatorial Candidate on the platform of New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP), Commodore Omatseye Nesiama( rtd) said, he is ready to give robust representation when voted for come February 25 this year.
According to him, it is a right not privilege for every Nigerian to have food to eat, saying, he would ensure the people have the dividends of democracy they have been yearning for over the years. He said political position should not be an inheritance where the father would transfer to his son just as he said, money is not everything. He however said today, Nigerians are so concerned about money hence Nigeria in general and Delta south in particular has experienced the needed growth and development over the years.
Speaking further, he said , election is not by party but by personality adding, any politician that comes to them with money will not represent them well saying, after election, he (politician) would want to recover all his money he spent during the electioneering campaigns as any amount of money given to them during election would be termed to have replaced the projects he (politician) would have done for them for the following four years.
According to him, the earlier assumptions that things cannot change for the better should be discarded as it is possible for things to change saying, for things to change, they to have vote for him in this year’s election. He therefore urged them to get his message of hope and possibilities and vote for him for them to have the dividends of democracy.
He said:” It is possible for us to have good representatives that will speak for us about our sufferings. Mark you, money is not everything, although today, Nigerians are concerned with money and that Is why, we have been getting it wrong. I beg every one of you here not be concerned with money in this election. So that we don’t get things wrong again. Don’t vote any party that says 5/5 because not everyone that can work, some candidates in 5/5 are not qualified and may not be able to work when they represent you”.
