The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, has congratulated its immediate past Chairman, Mr. Victor Okpomor, on the occasion of his birthday, describing him as a visionary leader and an accomplished media professional whose legacy continues to inspire the union.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the chapel, Okakuro Akpokona Omafuaire, and the Secretary, Edeki Igafe, the union expressed gratitude to God for granting Okpomor another year of life and wished him continued good health, peace, wisdom, and greater accomplishments. The chapel commended the former chairman for his outstanding leadership, describing him as a bridge-builder, institutional reformer, and steadfast pillar in the journalism profession whose administrative blueprint continues to strengthen the chapel’s unity, professionalism, and relevance.
According to the statement, Okpomor’s tenure was marked by integrity, resourcefulness, and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of members and the advancement of journalism practice in Delta State and beyond. The union further noted that under his leadership, the chapel recorded significant institutional achievements, strengthened relationships with key stakeholders, security agencies, and regional industry players, and enhanced its reputation within and outside the state.
“Your leadership style left an indelible blueprint for media unity and development. Your tenure fostered strong external partnerships with key stakeholders, security agencies, and regional industry players, which ultimately elevated the chapel’s institutional pedigree,” the statement read.
While celebrating his contributions to the profession, the chapel prayed for God’s continued guidance, favour, and protection upon him. “As you mark another milestone in your life’s journey, we pray that your coast continues to expand. May the years ahead bring you deeper joy, professional fulfilment, divine wisdom, and long life to fulfil your God-given destiny,” the statement added.
