All roads lead to David’s Event Centre, Anwai Road (Opposite Temple Clinic Junction), Asaba, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, as the annual BEL Dialogue brings together prominent stakeholders to deliberate on Nigeria’s democratic future.
This year’s event, scheduled to commence at 11:00 a.m., will be chaired by former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Hon. Mike Igini. Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Hon. Charles Aniagwu, will attend as the Special Guest of Honour, while veteran broadcaster and General Manager of Kruzz FM, Asaba, Mr. Lawrence Okpewho, will moderate the dialogue.
Secretary of the Advisory Board and Executive Director of BEL Dialogue, Emmanuel O. Enebeli, disclosed this in a press statement made available to journalists.According to Enebeli, this year’s dialogue is themed: “Democracy That Works: Bridging the Gap Between Votes, Results and Institutional Accountability“ and is designed as an interactive forum to examine critical issues affecting democratic governance and institutional accountability in Nigeria.
He said discussions will focus on electoral integrity, institutional transparency, accountable leadership, citizen participation, and practical reforms capable of strengthening democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections. The panel of discussants comprises distinguished professionals with extensive experience in governance, law, public administration, development, and policy advocacy. They include Dr. (Barr.) Wilfred Latimore Oghenesivbe, JP; Dr. Egondu Grace Ikeatu; Hon. Gibson Akporhe; Amb. Augusta Chibuzor Keneboh; and Professor Andrew Agboro.
Enebeli noted that the selection of the panelists reflects the organisers’ commitment to bringing together accomplished experts whose wealth of experience will enrich discussions on Nigeria’s democratic future and provide practical perspectives on strengthening governance. He further stated that the annual BEL Dialogue has continued to attract credible voices from various sectors, creating a platform for participants to exchange ideas and develop practical solutions to challenges confronting governance and democratic development in the country.
Expressing confidence in the outcome of this year’s event, Enebeli said, the dialogue would stimulate meaningful public discourse and generate actionable recommendations aimed at strengthening democratic institutions, promoting accountability, and fostering responsible leadership in Nigeria.
