The Executive Director of Nathan Osume Foundation and Senatorial candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP) for Delta Central Senatorial District, Nathan Osume, has called on eligible Deltans yet to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Osume’s call comes on the heels of the commencement of the final phase of voter registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the 2027 General Elections. The call is part of Osume’s ongoing grassroots voter education and enligthenment programme across Delta Central Senatorial District, aimed at enhancing voter participation in electoral process and strengthening democratic governance to improve the wellbeing of the people.
Osume urged Deltans who have attained the age of 18, as well as those who were unable to register during the earlier phases, to seize the opportunity provided by the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise to register and collect their PVCs and actively participate in the forthcoming elections.
“Election is the credible platform through which citizens elect credible leaders into public offices,” he stated. Osume described the forthcoming 2027 general elections as a decisive moment for Delta State’s democratic future, adding that participation in the electoral process remains both a constitutional right and a civic responsibility of citizens – a vital component of nation-building.
He further noted that increased voter engagement would help address perennial challenges such as corruption, insecurity, unemployment, and poverty through accountable leadership made possible by the people’s credible votes during elections. He also called on civil society groups, religious organisations, traditional institutions, the media and community leaders to support the ongoing continuous voter registration exercise through community-centred sensitisation programmes in order to reach out to the grassroots.
Osume said, “The ongoing final phase of Continuous Voter Registration began on Monday, 11 May and will end on Friday, 10 July, 2026, after which those who fail to register may be unable to participate in the 2027 elections.”
He further advised Deltans seeking to replace lost cards, transfer polling units or correct personal details to use the INEC online portal or visit designated registration centres, adding that the voter register would be displayed for public scrutiny between July 23 and July 29, 2026 allowing those that registered to verify their details and request corrections where necessary.
Osume passionately urged Deltans not to delay in the collection of their PVCs, charging them to hold strongly to the slogan, “We must register, we must collect our PVCs, we most vote, and we must defend our mandate,” to honestly define the political order in the state for the betterment of the people.
