Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Tuesday expressed gratitude to God for what he described as the peaceful and successful conduct of the APC primary elections in the state. Speaking during a morning devotion service at the Government House Chapel in Asaba, Governor Oborevwori thanked God for the unity, stability and overwhelming support Deltans have continued to show his administration.
The governor said the peaceful atmosphere that characterised the APC primaries was a clear indication of God’s faithfulness and mercy upon the state. According to him, giving thanks to God after every victory was necessary regardless of the situation. His words: “First, I want to thank God today for keeping us to this day. Thank God for all that He has done for us and for the show of love that Deltans have shown to this administration.” Quoting Psalm 100:4, the governor urged believers to always approach God with thanksgiving and praises.
“So, I have come here to return the glory to God who has made everything possible. No crisis, no fights, nothing. Everything went peacefully,” he added. Governor Oborevwori described the recent APC primary elections as one of the most peaceful the state had witnessed in recent times, noting that the experience from the 2022 primaries made the smooth outcome more remarkable.
His words: “If you know what we went through in the 2022 primaries, we have every reason to thank God that everything went well. “The governor also cautioned against idolising political leaders, stressing that service to humanity should ultimately be seen as service to God. His words :“You are not serving me, you are serving God. Salvation is personal.” Oborevwori further noted that good health alone was enough reason for gratitude to God, observing that, some wealthy individuals lacked the health required to enjoy their riches.
He also appreciated those who have consistently organised prayer sessions at the Government House Chapel from Monday to Friday. The governor disclosed that the state government would hold its annual thanksgiving service on Friday as part of activities marking his third anniversary in office and to appreciate God for His guidance and blessings.
