The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Manroy Global Services Limited at 18 DSC Expressway, Otokutu in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State , as part of efforts aimed at strengthening collaboration and fostering mutual development.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the chapel, Okakuro Barr. Akpokona Omafuaire, explained that the engagement formed part of the union’s tradition of formally introducing newly elected executives to relevant stakeholders and organisations following elections. He noted that the current leadership of the chapel emerged after the union’s election held on March 16, 2026, adding that the executive considered it necessary to engage organisations and individuals willing to partner with the media for societal progress.
His words:” Following the successful election, the chapel deemed it necessary to formally engage organisations and individuals willing to partner with the media. Omafuaire stated that members of the chapel represent various national media organisations across the country and remained committed to professionalism, agenda-setting and effective dissemination of information.
He appealed to Manroy Global Services Limited to support the chapel in areas such as capacity building, internet services, transportation and members’ welfare. According to him, regular training and retraining, especially in the area of Artificial Intelligence, had become necessary to enable journalists remain relevant in the rapidly evolving media industry. The Chairman further recalled the cordial relationship between the chapel and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, noting that the support of the organisation led to the acquisition of a permanent secretariat for the chapel. He expressed optimism that a similar relationship could be established with Manroy Global Services.
Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Manroy Global Services Limited Mr. Mike Taniowho, described the company as a subsidiary of Arthur Ferdinand Limited and noted that it had consistently carried out community development projects as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Taniowho reiterated the company’s commitment to impacting lives positively and contributing meaningfully to societal development. He assured the NUJ delegation of the organisation’s readiness to work closely with the chapel and advised the union to properly itemise its requests for consideration. He also expressed the company’s desire to build a strong and productive relationship with the media for mutual growth and development.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Director of Manroy Global Services Limited, Mr. Sylver Ofugara, expressed appreciation to members of the chapel for the visit and congratulated the newly elected leadership of the union. Ofugara commended journalists, particularly members of the NUJ, for their role in information dissemination and their contributions to societal growth and development. He noted that the visit was significant, especially as the delegation included respected senior journalists whom he described as mentors and fathers in the profession.
According to him, the company was impressed by the presentation made by the chapel’s leadership and had resolved to support the union. Ofugara further stated that Manroy Global Services places high value on collaboration, humanitarian service and corporate social responsibility, stressing that the organisation had continued to support communities through various interventions.
He highlighted some of the company’s projects to include donation of transformers to communities, educational support for schools and medical outreach programmes. He disclosed that the company once sponsored the surgery of a visually impaired man who later regained his sight and returned to work after the intervention.
Ofugara assured the chapel of the company’s commitment to supporting initiatives that would enhance the efficiency and productivity of journalists while urging the union to sustain the cordial relationship established through the visit.
