Osubi Airport in Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, the Manager, Mr Winston Egwuatu and some staff have bagged 15th Edition of Nigerian Aviation of the year awards.
While the Airport is honoured as the best Management System of the year, Mr. Egwuatu honoured as Nigeria Airport Manager of the year. In his address at the occasion, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN, said, the purpose for Nigerian Aviation Award and Ministerial Dinner was to encourage excellence operations and reward hard work in the Aviation industry in Nigeria.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development in Nigeria, said, Nigerian Aviation Award and Ministerial Dinner is a prestigious annual event in Nigeria that recognizes outstanding achievements, best practices, and contributions to the Nigerian aviation industry.
Represented by Mahmud Adam Kambari, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Chief Keyamo charged workers in the industry to always work hard to achieve excellence at all times to attain optimum safety standards which are the hallmarks of aviation operations. According to him, those that bagged the awards for this year should continue with their good work which made them to be selected just as he encouraged those who were among the lucky ones to put in their best to enable them to be among the privileged ones in the next edition.
In his response, Mr. Egwuatu, Manager, Osubi Airport who joy was written on his face, expressed gratitude to God Almighty who made it possible for the synergy between the staff and management for the organization to have achieved this feat for which they were being celebrated.
His words: “We, at Osubi Airport are grateful to God for helping us to be on our toes to ensure top notch managerial system and effective safety protocol. On his part, the Public Relations Officer and Head, Human Resources Department, Mr. Ofulue Kasiemobi, said, Osubi Airport has dominated the award for the past 5 years, and praised the efforts of Mr. Egwuatu for his pragmatic leadership style – the main reason for the successes recorded so far in the organization.
His words:”Osubi Airport recently celebrated 18 months achievement of its goal-zero target of “No bird strike”. This is a record is worth celebrating considering the menace of birds strike plaguing the aviation industry recently.” Recall that Osubi Airport just recently celebrated 18 months of Goal-Zero bird strike incident at the Airport.
