By Emma Ogoigbe, Warri.
Elder statesman and chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC),Air Vice-Marshal Frank Ajobema has blamed the mountainous problems besetting the country, Nigeria, on Fulani political elites, insisting that the ill-wind must be tackled holistically.
According to him, they (Fulanis) have a hegemonic agenda and also employ the instruments of religion and illusion regional cohesion to perpetrate their grip on the Nigerian state. “In essence, the Fulani elites are masters of the tagiyya tactics and its pragmatic application in politics”, Elder State man said. Air Vice-Marshall Ajobena who was the first military administrator of Abia State, suggested that, the only way out of the Fulani hegemonic grip was for the South to facilitate the emancipation of the Hausas, adding that, the Hausas have for too long been victims of the stock-horn syndrome.
“I was for long observed that the southern political elites do not understand the North. I drew attention to the fact that the notion of a monolithic North packaged as Arewa Consultative Forum was a farce and grand deceit which the Fulani political class deploy to intimidate the South and a web for other class”, stressed Ajobena.
His words: “To compound the situation, the Fulani oppressors further employ the smoke screen of religion to perpetrate their hegemonic grip on the North and the Nigerian state as a whole”. Air Vice Marshall Ajobena therefore proposed that the South should facilitate the emancipation of the Hausas who he said, have too long been victims of the Fulani hegemonic syndrome.
