The Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Chief (Hon.) Julius Takeme has embarked on people’s oriented developmental projects in the area just as he promised the people to expect more in years to come. Chief (Hon) Takeme made this known in a chart with newsmen on Wednesday as he embarked on facilities tour with news men in the area.
While some of the projects such as roads, well equipped public toilets, public tap for the people to get access to clean water, some of other projects are state of arts legislative quarters, among others that are ongoing, would be completed soon. He said, the administration has thrived very well in education, health, among others. The Burutu Local Government boss said, if his administration has been able to embark on these projects within one year in office, they would image how many projects that would be in the area by the end of his tenure.

Chief (Hon.) Takeme who was flanked by members of his legislative council members, said, the rapid transformative projects in the area become necessary to key into Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s mantra of More Agenda. His words:” We are ready to provide purposeful governance to the people. If you have a working Governor in the state, you have no choice but follow his footsteps”.
Burutu Council boss however said, for the council to have embarked on the various projects and the ones ongoing was not an easy task as there are challenges of roads to transport the materials for the projects to the local government area. His words:”Burutu is the only government Headquarters that you can’t drive to. If you get to Warri, you have to park your vehicle and think how you are going to face the riverine transportation. This is why the cost of governance here is very high”.

According to him, it is his prayers that the road to Burutu is constructed to make the people to drive through to reduce the cost of transportation of humans and materials for rapid development of the area. He therefore appealed to intervention agencies to partner with state government to construct the road to link the local government to others. His words:” It is our appeal and fervent prayers to see that government’s intervention agencies should at least, partner with state government to start the construction of road to Burutu. The road to Burutu will do us good… I am say this because of the cost of governance here.”

The Chairman also said, the local government still has the challenges of lack of power (lights) as the council is powered by generator which uses diesel that its cost eats deeply into the council’s finance. His words:” We buy diesel to run the place, there is no where we can work without light. If we can be connected to the National Grid, it will be thing of joy to us”.

Chief (Hon.) Takeme who said Burutu Local Government Area is the largest in the country both in population and land mass with over eighty communities promised to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. While expressing thanks to the news men for the visit, he said, his administration would continue to do his best to put smiles on the faces of the people.
Earlier in his address, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oborevwori on Community Newspapers, Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye who spoke on behalf of the group, said the group’s visit to the Chairman was to facilitate with him on his successful victory at the polls and successful swearing in. He said, the group’s visit was also to appreciate him for the good work he has been doing to uplift the standard of living of the people. He said, even when the group has not come to the council since he assumed office, the people are aware of the development projects in the area. He said no doubt, the Chairman has done well considering the terrain of the area as regards the cost of governance.

His words: “We are also here to appreciate you for the good work you have been doing. Though, we have not come to the council but we have been following up. Your terrain is not like the terrain in Sapele Local Government neither it is like the terrain in Oshimili South, Oshimili North. That is to say, if Sapele Local Government Area spends one million naira to do one project, here will be two times of that amount’.

Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye encouraged the Chairman to do more for people as that the way to key into Governor Sheriff Ob orevwori’s More Agenda mantra . While thanking the Burutu Local Government Area Chairman for the warm reception accorded the group, he promised that the group would always partner with the council to make the speedy growth of the place known to the world. The highlight of the visit was the facility tour of the Chairman with the journalists to acquaint them (newsmen) of the different infrastructure the council has embarked upon since he assumed office.
